Teachers on strike at independent school

The strike was in response to the sacking of the school's Head of English, apparently due to poor exam results. Although the strike by fifty staff successfully closed the school, around forty teachers still went into work. A meeting was due to be held this afternoon between the two unions involved, the NASUWT and the ATL.

Since Christmas, postal bosses in North and Mid Staffordshire have attempted to replace full-time jobs with part-time ones. But after six days of strike action by 700 posties across 11 depots, managers have been forced to back down.

Wildcat solidarity strike over suspended post striker

Postal workers in Staffordshire are on strike for a third day in a dispute over the suspension of a colleague.

The BBC reported that staff in Burslem walked out on Friday and Saturday after a colleague was suspended for alleged "aggressive behaviour" towards a female worker.

First Bus drivers' sixth strike

First drivers are demanding to be paid the same amount as their colleagues around the country.

The company has offered to raise the current £6.60 hourly rate. But the offer has so far been dependent on other conditions being imposed.

The Transport and General Workers' Union said strikes have also been planned for 7, 19 and 21 November.

Staffs teachers strike over pay

Pupils were told to stay away from Trentham High, Holden Lane High and St Peter's High on Thursday.

The strikes started three months ago and more industrial action is planned for November.
