Libcom library archiving to do list

Libcom library archiving to do list

An updated list of documents and websites we would like to archive in our library.

Here are a list of links to websites and articles which we would like duplicated in our library.

This is to help ensure that as many people as possible read them, and also to ensure that the documents stay online, in case other websites disappear - as has happened to so many other radical sites in the past couple of years.

We would appreciate any help from our users in copying this stuff across. If people would like to help but don't have the technical know-how - not to worry, we can help you! Just ask in the comment section below.

Higher priority
we would like pretty much all of the content on the following links duplicated on libcom.org:
http://zerowork.org/ - articles from the journal are already all on libcom but we would like all of the supplemental materials
http://libcom.org/library/exhaustive-list-iww-pamphlets - some of these are currently hosted externally so it would be good to get them all on libcom
http://zinnedproject.org/news/page/2/ - any of the good historical texts here would be great
http://home.earthlink.net/~lrgoldner/ - break their haughty power
http://www.takver.com/history/index.htm - Australian radical history site, would be good to get all the history stuff
http://www.left-dis.nl/
http://www.generation-online.org/t/translations.htm
http://www.alphabetthreat.co.uk/pasttense/page2.html
http://www.marxists.org/history/spain/spanishrevolution/index.htm - it would be great to get all of these individual issues up in our incomplete archive which is here: http://libcom.org/library/spanish-revolution-newspaper
http://libcom.org/forums/history/living-marxism-archive-06062014 - would be good to get this archive in the library
http://www.connexions.org/RedMenace.htm Would be great to get the rest of these in our red Menace archive here: http://libcom.org/library/red-menace
http://dwardmac.pitzer.edu/Anarchist_Archives/goldman/ME/me.html - Mother Earth
http://forworkerspower.wordpress.com/category/the-solidarity-group/ - anything here by Solidarity would be great
http://www.rebeller.se/English.html - We have most of this but there are one or two texts we still don't have which would be good
http://kommunismus.narod.ru/books.html - the English stuff here would be the priority, but the foreign-language stuff would be good as well
http://libcom.org/library/kurasje-documents - having these file attachments added to the library as individual articles would be great
http://muse.jhu.edu/journals/journal_of_the_history_of_youth_and_childhood/summary/v004/4.2.getman-eraso.html - about youth groups in the Spanish revolution
http://gurgaonworkersnews.wordpress.com/workers-history/

Lower priority
The following websites contain some useful texts. We would like any decent, relevant ones which we do not host already to be copied into our library, but the higher priority ones above are preferred for the time being.
http://anarchalibrary.blogspot.co.uk/ - we have most of this already but anything missing would be good
www.midnightnotes.org
www.revoltagainstplenty.com
http://www.againstsleepandnightmare.com/
http://www.nestormakhno.info/english/index.htm
http://www.spunk.org/index.html
theanarchistlibrary.org
http://dwardmac.pitzer.edu/Anarchist_Archives/
http://www.bastardarchive.org/
zinelibrary.info
http://www.seesharppress.com/textsonline.html
http://www.gutenberg.org/browse/authors/d#a2015 - any John Dos Passos novels with radical content/themes would be good, some here
http://www.bibliothekderfreien.de/lidiap/eng/index.htm - any decent publications from these ones online would be great duplicated on libcom
http://newsandletters.org/WritingsofRD.asp
http://www.arpnet.it/chaos/flexibility.htm - this text would be good
http://www.sojournertruth.net/main.html
http://bigflameuk.wordpress.com/
http://marxists.org/history/erol/ncm-1/index.htm
http://caringlabor.wordpress.com/2010/12/04/the-young-lords-reader-health-and-hospitals/

New content
The following websites are active and continually having new content posted. As such, duplicating content from them is not as high a priority, however we would still like to duplicate new additions or older articles from these websites as they come out eventually:
www.insurgentnotes.org
http://faridabadmajdoorsamachar.blogspot.com/
http://gurgaonworkersnews.wordpress.com/ Gurgaon workers news
http://www.katesharpleylibrary.net/
http://ngnm.vrahokipos.net/translations.html

Underway
These sites are currently being copied over. However, help with them would still be appreciated. Post in the comments below for more information

I was planning on tackling the Radical America archive but my OCR doesn't work well if you'd like the PDF's hosted here like Spectacular Times then I'll still give it a go but I'll need someone to enable adding child pages.

I'll also take a crack at the Nestor Makhno archive, would it be of interest/value including some of Trotsky's writings on Mahkno with an appropriate introduction and links to other articles refuting the accusations?

hey mate, that would be brilliant, thanks! And straight up PDFs will be fine.

In this case, there is already a partial archive of them to which you can add child pages in the same format:
http://libcom.org/library/radical-america

For future reference, though, you can already turn things into "books" to enable adding child pages by clicking "book outline" on the article submission page and choosing "create new book"

that would be great, and a small number of the latter would also be fine as long as they contain the appropriate introduction and refuting links. Thanks!

I always thought this could go on here, but was too shy to do anything about it - http://forworkerspower.wordpress.com/2012/01/27/sherwood-anderson-life-u...

Maybe this as well? - http://forworkerspower.wordpress.com/2012/05/19/skeleton-staff-at-graves...

What do you think of those? There is actually more that could be suitable as well.

We would like everything from that blog!

it looks like they forgot to renew their domain and it got squatted.

Yeah, most of it was rubbish but there was some good stuff on there. Would be a real shame if it's all gone… And another reason for people to post up to libcom.org, which is maintained by a sizeable, long-term collective and backed up by the British Library!

Putting up the individual issues of Spanish Revolution (http://www.marxists.org/history/spain/spanishrevolution/index.htm) in our incomplete archive here would be great: http://libcom.org/library/spanish-revolution-newspaper#new

Some books by Aki Orr of Matzpen (and Solidarity). I've only glanced at the site but maybe some of this is worth putting up: http://www.akiorrbooks.com

Mark.
Aug 10 2014 19:20

Not sure what happened to my post above and who added the comment. Anyway I've just started reading 'The Idea of Israel' by Ilan Pappe which has a bit about Matzpen and says Aki Orr was in Solidarity when he lived in London - so I assume it's correct.

Oh, balls, Mark, that was me clicking edit instead of quote! Fuck know what I was thinking! Anyway, cheers for the heads up on the Israeli dock strike..

I'll repost my previous post here:

Haha, funny, Aki was a big character! Had no idea he was in Solidarity tho.. there's this video of him talking about Israeli politics, it's pretty long but the best bit is really the beginning when he talks about his involvement in a dockers' strike in the 1950s in Israel.. I would love to write it up as an account at some point (or if someone else interested in class struggle in Israel wanted to)..

Cheers Ed.

Aki Orr died last year - there's a short obituary here.

I guess his website will end up disappearing eventually which would be another reason for putting some of the material up on libcom.

There's a mention here of Aki Orr speaking at a Soldarity public meeting:

We want all the decent history articles from here: http://zinnedproject.org/news/page/2/ up in the history section. Then we can also use them for our Working Class History facebook page

Steven.
Sep 30 2014 10:03

bump, because I've done a big update of all the texts we want and have done, and have tidied up the comments, so the only texts/sites we still need are in the OP.

We still appreciate any help from people putting stuff up in the library!

I posted a Negri text from here:

Hope someone finds that gobbledygook to be of use.

the stuff can still be accessed if you circumvent the start page, e.g. via http://zinelibrary.info/books ... will try to list some of the useful pieces there
