just sifting through the 6 pages of applicants.
Not really sure what to say, many of them have nothing on their profile to explain why they want to be mates, none of them have written a message, and lots of them were dodgy. Knocked back one fascist - his profile was not explicit, just a few dodgy symbols, so i checked his friends' - sure enough, evil nazi goths/death metallers. Didn't send any abuse, no need for silly weirdoes having anet war. Lots of random hippies, 90% are animal rights advocates.
On the AR thing i have said we are happy to link/be 'friends' with people on a personal capacity but we won't link directly to AR orgs or networks, simply because this would misrepresent our politics and theirs - we don't do any AR work.
I avoided saying 'nobody in the AF see's how smashing up a laboratory makes you a communist' obviously, and the resposnse from AR groups have been fine.
Whats the etiquette on myspace? Add anyone who isn't outright distasteful to you anf have thousands of friends?
And who are Anarchist Collective they have 13,000 members!
Depends on what you see the purpose of our myspace page as being.
If it's there to promote our politics and act as a point of contact with potential members, then it's probably advisable to be civil with AR types, but not to have them listed as friends unless they also have a strong class struggle focus or there's some other good reason to add them.
If the purpose is to make ourselves look bigger and more important than we actually are, then just add everybody who isn't a shit stirrer or an outright fascist.
