The new AF publication "Introduction to Anarchist Communism" is well put together and makes a very good read.

As for membership: yes, they are a bit slow getting back. I'm still waiting too...

Where are you by the way? If you send us your address we can send you some of our pamphlets and Organise and give you an idea of what being a member means. Plus we can put you in contact with real live members, not just phantoms of the keyboard smile PM it to me and I'll do it Tuesday.

We're normally very good at getting back Any email sent to join[at]afed.org.uk with an address on it gets a response within a couple of days - by that I mean stuff through the post, not an email. We've been slowed down a bit recently with me being stuck in Spain due to the volcano, but that's sorted now. Emails without addresses get dealt with more slowly.

The best way to understand anarchy is to work it out yourself. You dont need dictionaries or stuff like that, they are written by the enemy. Its about what is in your head, and you have to change it. But some people cannot change, like sheep they follow the government and the rulers, they are zombies, I feel sorry for them. I try to tell them, most of them just laugh at me like they did with Jesus. But they are the fools, anarchy forever!!!!

Invent ur own anarchiez! DONT TRUST THE DICTIONARY - Hitler wrote it, donchyaknowz!? Look inside ur heart and mind, find the force WITHIN you! Meditate. Become ONE with anarchisms. Some ppl are idiots and sheep and zombies. Fuck 'em! They deserve our pity and scorn. I am a true prophets, like JEsus. I hang around half naked with a dozen other half naked men. The pplz ignore us, just like they ignored jesus, but rlly they are gooonna suffer coz they are gonna burn in hell forevar! Sucker ass bitches! AAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNAAAAAAARKKKKKKKKYYYYYYYY

For a few years, myself and a group of friends had regularly moaned about the political system and were angry with the many things we felt to be injust. It was the when I first vocalised my anger, but myself nor friends did anything about it. Probably this was because we didn't know what to do, but also because there are always lots of distractions. When I moved to London I came across the Socialist Alliance and got involved but for many reasons was put-off - intolerance, factionalism, and also beginning to read about political ideas. I then got involved in the 'movement' in London and started to identify more closely with anarchist ideas but for some reason I never came across the Anarchist Federation during this time. As anarchists and the movement seemed to be doing direct action, summit hopping (Gleneagles, Rostock), social centres, I did the same. Having been compeltely inactive before, I intitially found it quite powerful and also fun, but it didn't take long to realise that much of this was ineffective. My breaking point with this path of activity ended with environmentalism-Climate Camp, when I realised a had almost nothing in common with people around me. With many 'anarchists' I didn't have a shared understanding of what anarchism was, and much of the 'liberalism' and 'lyfestylism' I come across got on my nerves.
I then joined the IWW mainly as I thought it a network of militants who I would more likely be able to work with, and felt the 'anarchism' tag irrelevant.
I joined the Anarchist Federation not much more than a year ago because I wanted to be in a 'political' organisation, as well what I considered to be a network of militants (IWW). The level of debate in the organisation is good and I've learnt much from comrades about theory and practice through forums, and local and national meetings. The benefits of being in a national organisation couldn't be clearer, in terms of coordinating pickets or producing leaflets, pamphlets, posters etc. Whilst my reasons for staying-in differ from why I first joined, and other members will have taken very different paths to Afed, I thought I'd share why I joined Afed for what its worth.
