have done the last ten news items list. Also re-enabled bullets for right side-bar lists, reckon it looks alright.

Is it a pain in the arse when I post stuff using the delayed thing and get you guys to sort it out? Cause I'm about to do it again if you don't stop me. I've got a couple to do and they're about foreigners that are not in France eek (or Belgium!!)

Well I'll put them up now and you can bump them off the front page if you think they're not as exciting, which they probably aren't.

they only go on the front-front page if an admin ticks a box anyway, and the news index is more than a single list now so should be fine

hmmm we could do. but then we need to tag each with strike, wildcat and sick out... could do though. will be the world's only resource for sick-outs!

also need to edit organise article which says sick-in embarrassed

Senegal is done, I'm not sure if it's cause I'm using IE but I can't moderate it (also I didn't think mine were moderated any more)

ok i'll do. i added Senegal tag - all stories should have country, it's fine to start new tags for countries, also added pic by google image searching.

so i take it the strike wasn't a wildcat then, and that site was talking balls?

no it wasn't. The guy called it a wildcat because there was no informationn about it. Striking workers weren't picketing, it definitely wasn't a wildcat because they gave the formal notification.

ok I'll do this, we capitalise countries right? And acronyms as well?

Sorry I can't do images, firefox crashes when I try to save images at work (which meant I had to write the schools one twice and the strike in Marseille might have to wait until tomorrow.

I broke the link so they don't find us wink

edit: is the last paragraph in my new story too much? take it out if you think so.

No no that's fine, great story too. political/solidarity strikes are very important.

yes country tags + acronyms are capitalised. this only matters if they're new ones.

- added pic
- CNT tag deleted, replaced with group tag CNT-F
- other union tags added - Sud and CGT
- schools tag added
- France tag added
- strike tag changed to strikes - please remember these are plural and try to match to existing tags. now when someone else wants to tag a strike they'll be shown 2 options and won't know which one is right till we go into admin panels and delete it.
- deportation tag changed to immigration one;

generally if all posters can match tags to existing ones please do. feel free to start new tags for countries but for most other things we have a tag already now.

the antifa story needs anti-fascism tag changing to fascism.

Or maybe some kind of general sick-day/absenteeism tag for things which aren't organised or ft type statistics - we occasionally have stuff on that. I think it's worth it, that kind of stuff gets in the news and people are interested in it (not always the right people for the right reasons, but still).

Which unionc should I put in as tags (or are they groups?) ?
at the moment I'm only putting in the CNT CNT-F and CGT cause I've seen them elsewhere and I reckon we don't want to be clogged with acronyms.
I reckon adding FO would be a good idea.

I don't know if this is feasibel but with the tags as well as a list of articles using the tag could we have a link to an explanation of what it is? With refuse collection it might not be that useful but with names of stuff and people could be good.

yeah FO would be ok.

anarchist + friendly groups go in "groups" all others go in tags - like non-anarchist trade unions, fash groups, etc.

done line breaks - those need to be full html no line breaks if they look like that (at least for now to save a full tidy up).

http://libcom.org/news/argentina-striking-teacher-killed-police-07042007

I just did this one, I hope you like it, it was a fair amount of work.

A couple points:

I didn't enter CGT as a tag or a group because in this case it's an umbrella union group. I didn't want to confuse it with the French CGT. Or should I have put it in?

I forgot to tag CTERA, which is the teaching union federation.

I put in a picture of the dead man. I do have some of a picket one with flames on and some of him being treated by medics but I wasn't sure whcih one would be best. In the end I went for the least riot-porny. I can pm the other photos if you want a look.

Villepin is in the tags index, I'd take him out, he's only linked to in a couple of CPE articles.

Do we have a pickets tag? is one necessary? We probably won't cover many strikes without them I suppose

When I look at the tags section in "explore" does this show all of the tags on libcom? If not is there another list.

Oh and I just found two more news sites, one of which I'd previously ignored for being thirdworldist smile

no hurry, but I'd appreciate a copy, and it'd save John from adding all the tags to my articles smile
I added FO as a tag.
Catch, is there any chance (as mentioned earlier) that each tag could carry a short explanation of what it was, or a link maybe. Mostly it's obvious but sometimes (esp with acronyms) it could be handy.

I might be putting up a big article soon, I'll put it in the blog but you can pass it over to news if you think it's any good. I''ll stick a link on this thread.

Was it ok to double link this blog post to the article? Seemed like an explanation was in order but it didn't seem right to put as a footnote, it was either incomplete or too long for such a short article.
