- i see titles in curved boxes are now blue? they looked better black.
- also forum column titles are white on white still
- now titles are smaller breadcrumbs def look too big
- could text in about boxes and descriptions of sections be the same size as teaser text? i.e. smaller? not necessarily bold though...

that's what I meant.

History index looks a bit crappy. It'd be nice to have that image twice as big, with some opacity/transparency and set as a background colour to the top bit. Also the text looks messy - maybe have the latest content and the about bit as two blocks next to each other - will try that now.

i really think the search should be in a consistent place - if not right-aligned in the top header, always at the top of the right column?

search box now in header, and did some minor styling.

yeah not sure about usabilty, white box and black text was a bit ugly in our lovely header though.

This new version of smileys module seems to expand the box automatically, that's really annoying.

sectors header on the front page has an empty header above it which needs hiding

er, just got rid of it. rkn - can we make just normal background colours opacitised?

sectors box is half-finished - need to go through that column to do the clickable headers. thanks for reminder though.

ok most blocks now have titles as links.

Had to mess around with the nifty js - so some blocks in right side-bar have square header now. Those ones need either a customised header, or are really hard to put a customised header in for.

Tricky things to sort out:

i notice some random teaser/feed bits, if there's no image have like a small black "O" or something where the pic would be...

Yeah it doesn't check for the image before it prints it., so it's printing an empty image- on IE that's a little red x/box instead which is worse.

If we do proper theming of those views/cck then we could make the image conditional on there actually being one, or it might make it's way into the module later.

in IE7 (and earlier IE versions), there was some margin above node titles when they're next to images, have added in some conditional comments and put a negative margin in, which fixes it as long as there's an image. If there isn't then it might look a bit messed up though, but since we're adding images to everything I figure it's best that way 'round.

at the moment the style information is right in page.tpl.php - need to move it into an ie.css

just looking at the site and while it's looking a lot sexier it still looks a bit flat and plain in general - e.g. looking at the main index (though this holds generally) the white space is good but there's no differentiation between blocks and the background, either in the right column or in the main area which makes it all look a bit flat and unsophisticated. what about css drop shadows around blocks a la last.fm?

and maybe we could think about differentiating right column blocks somehow (coloured boxes/headers?), though i don't know how easy that would be

different colours in header is very easy to do - we just need an extra css class for each one. Agree it needs something extra, especially index.

maybe a background colour for the blocks themselves? or yeah we could try dropshadows but there'd need to be something to drop iyswim.

yeah either a 1px border (could be subtle grey?) or coloured bgs i guess (or both)

if we're going to colour headers we should work out a logic to it. could be as simple as right column blocks are coloured in one colour? dunno

taking a look at right sidebar bgs now.

alright just the two feed boxes - for example here: http://libcom.org/news/civil-servants-strike-over-pay-30032007

I reckon it's an improvement - might not be right, but better.

nah that didn't work, trying a different way.

tried something more drastic, reckon it's better. Bit untidy obviously but might be an option instead of the dark headers.

ok starting to get there now.

This way we can easily apply bg colours to any of the blocks, and can still do something with block headers if we want. I think it deals with the depth as well a bit - but again can always try to add dropshadows and stuff. It also deals with the crapness of having really long headers in the centre column and the weird paddng issues we were getting.

have done example of a diff coloured background on http://libcom.org/library may do a couple more for comparison.
