yeah, I'd be interested to know this. (I don't think I could come up with any as there have been too many, both good and bad, over the last 11 years)

I don't miss some of the crazy postings of times if ole. Interesting watching the shifts and interest changes. Sad to see some relations disintegrate. Interesting to see how both anarquismo and libcom have become certain posters domains and diminishing of movements / organizations
Other stuff as well

Nov 12 2003, according to me tracker. Smdh on the content though

Quote:
In the event that revolution doesn't in fact happen soon though, a strong left wing vanguard party can provide at least a partial countermeasure to the all-out right wing policy we have today, if only by providing a popular backbone for counter-reactionaries. It may not work in terms of true reform or change, but it can help to mitigate things.

What's the phrase... 'My enemy's enemy is my friend'. Churchill I think, but true nonetheless.

Whilst all effort should be made to push them further in our direction (and to keep a wary eye on them lest we forget the Spanish civil war), it should be appreciated that they have a useful role to play.

Nb// no I'm not a member, and I don't particularly like them either, I'm just saying neutral.

I wonder what I would be like had I never underwent a transformation in my personal beliefs, had I never ventured on libcom and the countless other anarchist/communist/marxist sites on the web that had influenced me. It all seemed like an accident. Up till my high school senior year, 2010-11, I was a hard core conservative with the most reactionary view on everything. And like most conservatives, I believed in the "American dream" and "big business". Then I took AP (Advanced Placement) English with a teacher who, although largely conservative as well, had a mix of liberal and conspiratorial views. Long story short, our discussions around his desk while he tried to do his paper work instead of teaching class had me chasing the web, doing research and looking for answers to all sorts of questions after school. That year, I remember the world made less and less sense to me, and I was becoming vulnerable towards conspiratorial views.

Eventually, I decided to look into socialism. I think it was because I read Albert Camus, George Orwell and Aldous Huxley and they were socialists of some sorts, which got me interested in it. From around the end of high school, up until my first post, I went through all the different versions of leftism before being won over to anarchism.

Joined 8 years 25 weeks ago and apparently lurked for a year before posting on Jan 20 2007 12:49

Had been a socialist of some kind for a while by that point. It has been a great deal of learning and changing since then. I expect more of the same in years to come. Thanks libcom!

/edit/

Whoops, got up in the max 'go-back' of the tracker. Completely unsure of my first posting. I was a bit weirded out that it looked like a lurked for so long. Didn't seem like me to not open my big mouth. . . .

9 years 19 weeks for me and my first visible thread is 7 years 19 weeks too.
It's pretentious crap, but it's definitely better than everything else I posted before.

As for you Serge I've always liked your posts

ITYM "revol68" (as in 1968). revol69 is his kinkier, evil(er) twin.

Yup, definitively Revol68. I miss that little fucker. With him around shit was never boring, that's for sure.

And my first post was 8 years and 45 weeks ago. Damn that's a long time ago, but since then my politics have developed for the much better.

The first article I read on libcom was titled something like 'Chomsky, Chavez' clown' ,
I was incredibly mad at libcom at the time having just come to radical politics through Chomsky, previously being a TINA.
But I kept landing on libcom when looking for material, and eventually became a convert.
I also like how this site encourages living normally, a position pushed by Stephen, otherwise I would still be an anti social, radical liberal Chomskyite

Thanks libcom!

You posted quite a lot under there. I'm going to try dig up something embarrassing you wrote, and post it on this thread.

I was actually going through the list, starting with the earliest threads. Doesn't seem like you wrote much of anything embarrassing though.

[Edit: I give up. I skimmed through as much as I can, I can't find anything worthwhile. It almost seems like you were a different poster though, I mean there's no funny comics.]

I probably deleted it shortly after writing it. wink

I used to sometime post stupid images I made (pre-cartoon days), but they shut down geocities (where they were hosted) so they no longer show up in my old posts. I also lost most of my own copies, but I found a few on an old hdd a few years ago.

Lets see...

Libcom collective at the bookfair:

Who could forget the Stalinist balls lady:

This, for some reason:

This should be a familiar sight:

And, errrr, these two:

I think the last one might have been a suggestion for libcom merch. (Not sure if they ever had one made, mind.)
