"What about THE TRAGEDY OF THE COMMONS?"

Oh, the Tragedy of the FUCKING commons. Jesus, I studied history and a bit of economics at university and the TOTC is the basis for entire fucking academic disciplines. And yet, it could disproven by any 12 year old of basic intelligence.

"The Founding Fathers"

"The Consitutution"

"You're too idealistic."

From my uncle:

NPR = "Not practicing Republicans"
CNN = "Communist News Network"

And of course, you know Hitler was a socialist, too: the National Socialist Party. See, see.

Also, "Do you have Jesus in your life" and "What would Jesus do?"

Paraphrasing Ayn Rand:

"I wouldn't call myself either libertarian or anarchist, because libertarianism would mean (or translate into) communism, i.e. freedom for all. And we (i.e. the "elites") wouldn't want that, now would we?"

"Oh yes, Jimmy Carter was a communist. He had visions of equality."

"I am proud to be an American!"

"Those people don't have peace in their souls (usually when seeing people in the Middle East or North Africa protesting)."

"White people are decent. They watch what they eat. They exercise. They read. They're neat. They do this, they do that. Blah, blah, blah!"

"Oh, so you think the community should handle the Tarsnaev brothers themselves?" (This was when my friends tried to understand my anarchist politics)

"Those welfare recipients depend on our hard work. If they didn't get that money, we would've gotten that money ourselves."

Anything having to do with

Although some people say Marx looked to it as inspiration for the manifesto.

When I was 12 or 13 I got sent to a therapist because my parents were concerned I had an "authority problem". Which I did and I still do and I'd like to think I was an anarchist even before I knew the term.

EDIT: Ha! "Councillor", not "counselor". Still a good story though.

I hate when I get chatting politics with a workmate or whatever (something I actually try not to do) and they respond with something like, "You ought to run for prime minister...."

When I was about 15 or 16 my parents thought that my refusal to conform in various ways was a result of me being brainwashed by Crass. My mum actually wrote to 'The Society for the Protection of Children Against Mindbending Cults'(well, something like that!) who replied assuring her that though they had never heard of the 'Crazz'(lol!) cult they would definitely do some research. I mean, as if I would of had my view of the world turned upside down by Crass. Too absurd - everybody knows it was Flux of Pink Indians!!!

When I was much younger than 15 years of age, I used to play with ants.

I wasn't sent to a therapist, after an assessment, I just got thrown in the remedial class, It was great, 10 lines for being a shit and you were automatically in the 'hard gang' with nutters. 'Borstal' was a word used quite a lot.

Not sure which topic to put this in but I heard something to the effect of:

"If you're too extreme left or too extreme right you end up in the same place."

But used as a justification to not analyze or distinguish between the two.

I tend not to remember the stupid things workmates have said this is an exception:

“Well if you don’t have a pot to piss in, then you’re naturally a commie, it’s just envy”.
This was followed a few weeks later during a discussion where someone like Tony Benn was mentioned the same guy spouted, “Well that rich f***er can afford to be a red he doesn’t have to eat s**t like the rest of us”.

re: admonitions over masks on demonstrations

"Well, if you've nothing to hide.." accompanied by smug facial expression suggesting how absolutely self-evident they find this point

I do have something to hide - in case you haven't noticed the state likes to put people in prison.

Quote:
If we didn't have the police there'd be theft/rape/murder.

Like we don't have plenty of that already. Duh!

Worse still, the police themselves frequently commit all three. Only a white person who proselytises voting could ever say something like that

"Hitler was an arsehole right, but you can't deny he was intelligent"

The bar for intelligence has been set at Earth's Mantle level.
