Bridgwater (Somerset, UK) Brickyard Strike 1896 - complete with minor military occupation

This is a brief account of a relatively unknown strike in Bridgwater, Somerset at the end of the 19th century.

Bridgwater stands out historically as an island of working class radicalism amidst a sea of conservatism. Apparently Bridgwater railwaymen defied the TUC and stayed out much later than the rest of the SW in the 1926 General Strike.

If anyone has any other information I'd be really interested to know more.
