Hello and welcome, many of us were once in the same situation as you! If you're relatively new to things we would recommend having a look at our introductory guides: https://libcom.org/library/libcom-introductory-guide
I never did this and am hoping it's not too late. I am an ex-Trot (although that was a long time ago now) who, having found out more about the Russian revolution and the Spanish Civil War, went over to anarchism. I live in Kent and am currently studying Art and the Humanities at uni. My name is an anagram of Kropotkin but also refers to my fondness for cooking, especially noodles.
Hi,
I'm first and foremost a Christian, I don't know if I would Call myself an Anarchist, my thoughts are a little bit more complicated. I used to basically think of myself of a more or less a-political basic social-democrat. I recently started Reading David Graeber and Marcell Mauss and some other anthropology for a study I was doing in early Christian history/New Testament Exegesis in regards to Acts 2:42-47 and Acts 4:32-37 (the idea being that a historical reconstruction that starts from the point of social relationships rather than property institutions can make sense of the early Christian "communism" a whole lot better).
The more of David Graeber I read, the more I think he's definately on to something. So I don't know if I'm an anarchist or not, but I do know is I am 100% opposed to Capitalism, as both an ideology and a set of institutions, and that I don't think the state should be the way to oppose it, and I have a generally Christian worldview and theology has a big say in how I approach these issues.
Beyond that I'm still working on the Socratic injunction to "know myself".
Welcome Rommon!
Yes, welcome!

welcome! I can't see I have ever noticed anyone being a dick about spelling/grammar, but doing so would be against our site guidelines so if anyone is not nice about it feel free to drop us a line with a hyperlink to libcom.org@gmail.com so we can take action
So, I created this account six years ago and then drifted away from politics of any kind for personal reasons. But personal experiences and world events have all been pushing me back in.
When I left off I was, or was trying to be, as dogmatically Marxist as they come. Not sure how much of that I've retained in the transition from being an angry teenager to an angry 20 something. I haven't read a word of Marx in probably two or three years, so I probably need to get back on that.
I used to post a lot on Revleft. Still have an account there, but the forums look like a ghost town now.
I'm autistic so if I'm needlessly pedantic about things just tell me to shut up.

You'll fit right in
Welcome!
Hello Libcom
I've been lurking a while and have learnt stuff here. There is plenty I don't get so be sure I will be asking some daft questions and asserting some stupid crap along the way. Of course things get heated but I very much like that mostly people here tend towards engaging in a more meaningful way (and sometimes even changing their position!) than most other leftist and liberal sites I have seen.
I fancy diving in with a topic that is highly contentious here: veganism. I have just read some vegan talk here and in particular found this thread surprising and not informative. Perhaps there is a bit of previous on this subject that a new reader cannot know about. I found the non vegan arguments left me with more questions than answers. I doubt I will be convinced to eat animals or anything but I do think I am open enough to have my political view of it changed. So, are you all OK with me starting a thread trying to find out more about why the politics of veganism is so derided here?
BTW I am not joining up to just talk about veganism. Far from it. I have been lurking here a long while before I even saw the vegan threads today.

Hello all, my name is Nick and I'm just new here in the community. Hope I'm pretty much welcome here.
Hello Nick, you are indeed, very welcome.
Seems like the community is a ghost town? Where are the people?

You can see most recent posts/comments in the tracker: http://libcom.org/tracker
Yeah, this is not the only thread people post in. Use the tracker as linked to by Steven and you'll see all the new posts folks have made. At the moment the community is more active that it has been for some time (likely due to tall the UK election threads).
Clearly they don'tknowhow
Damn, that joke is so bad that I just had to laugh.
Welcome Nick, hope you find some interesting threads here and leads towards organizing.
Ah OK, thanks, people for the comment.
Hi I'm Terry. I don't fall into any ideological pigeonholes, I'm no friend of the Buckleys, Buchanans, Limbaughs, Hannitys but neither am what Lenin (aptly if crudely and possibly apocryphally termed "useful idiots").
I guess I am too right wing for sections of the Left and too left wing for some Right Wingers!
Welcome! Libcommers usually tend to view left and right as two sides of the same coin.
Hi, been reading articles and getting information from here for a long time. I'm an anarchist communist. I have learned leftbook is a toxic cesspool but I do not like being cut off from any leftist discussion. I tried to consider MLs to be comrades, I really really did but they simply aren't. And the excessive demand that they are is almost always pushed by them to become dominant. I have met many MLs, ones I was told were good, but they just keep disappointing me, they never admit Lenin killed innocent people, hell they say he wasn't tough enough against dissent. And I don't think that is dogmatic to think it is unacceptable. So I dusted off my old profile and came here where I feel "the kulaks (decided by Stalin) deserved it" is not allowed.
Welcome back
Thanks, and just out of curiosity, is that your cat or random internet picture?

Khawaga is actually a hyper-intelligent cat.
Yes, I am a cat. The pic is a selfie, though I look a bit older now
Hello, I'm a liberal disillusioned by parlamentary politics due to recent developments in USA and Europe, really questioning all my previous assumptions about how these things work. Currently anarchist leaning, but still figuring things out. I too am from Poland!
