May Day

Some of us got together last weekend and discussed organising another picnic this year for MayDay. We had a load of fun last year on something that was put together very quickly.

So, who's uip for it this time round?

If you're interested, drop us an email: manarchy@af-north.org

would be good to do something but we'd have to sort out what and who is giong to help out cause people who did a lot last year aren't involved anymore so others would be needed to make something work.

would be fun though. i'd help.

Yeah - a meeting up is called for, isn't it?

I'll phone the FMH today and see when they are available.

let me know. also ideas for a big bike ride meeting up for food and drink in a park maybe? it would be nice to have new ideas around the picnic idea we used successfully last time to keep it interesting for people.

Why 'argh' Lucy? With regard to 'Rockworld' I understand completely, although my history doesn't stretch quite as far as yours yet roll eyes I also remember when it was 'Jillys', just down the road from 'The Banshee'. Them were the days...when all clubs had a perilous flight of stairs to negotiate at the end of all the drinking.

But Conflict?..... 'Argh'?....... BAH! Try 'The ungovernable force' album, it even has a track which is basically advice on getting arrested smile

I've booked the Friends Meeting House for Wednesday 30th April so we can get together and sort out the details. Starts at 7.30 pm.

It soun ds like some decent ideas for a fun day out.

It'd be great if as many as possible could make it along.

So far we've got:

A bike ride

picnic - where?

football?

how about some music?

other ideas

Sorry Lucy, was rushing out for an appointment with the Y.O.T. (the joys of parenting huh?) so as I am sure u know u little pedant, I meant the song was about what to do in the event of arrest grin.....

I suspect Knight Rose meant March 30th, next wednesday... wouldn't be the 1st time he/she got their days/dates muddled grin

Anarchist football, begs the question AGAIN, does anarchist football need a referee or do we all self impose the predefined and accepted laws of the game?

p.s. will we be randomly tested for drugs if we take part?(even performance hindering drugs?)

wink

i think we can get a sound system in my bike trailer, which we can borrow frm the swp...could you ask them lucy? just say we are doing some wanky protest and they will probably lend it.

so a bike ride to a park, beer, footie and cake. should be nice if its sunny.

then im definatly up for conflict...a gig where i can finally fling myself around viloently! hurrah tongue

I confess, I don't know one month from another!!!

The meeting is next Wednesday - 30th MARCH!!!!!! at the Friend's Meeting House. Apparently it clashes with a defy ID meeting. I guess we can fit both in. This one shouldn';t take long.

can't get a sound system for t he back of the trailer beanis, i'm not even going to ask tbh, cause andy would freak at it being carried like that let alone what its being used for and i don't really have any contacts there anymore and also i'd feel really responsible for it all day and i'd just be stressed.

the only other idea is can't we sort one out for ourselves? how hard is it? what do we need? andies is a car battery and the amp, mike, and some speakers. we could do the car battery and the speakers so its just the amp. i've got a mike. hasn't anyone else got an amp we could use? or is it more complicated than that? we should really try to sort one out for ourselves instead of having to rely on the swp.

failing that, we could just use a portable cd deck (crap i know) but possibly better than nothing? maybe we could plug bigger speakers into it or something.. i don't know..

I've recently acquired a tripod, so I volunteer to be the photographer-who-looks-like-he-knows-what-he's-doing-with-the-flash-camera-but-is-actually-shit.

alternatively, on the music front, we could always be green, friendly and self-managed .... and bring instruments and play them instead.

well ya need a special amp, that can convert the power from a car battery into the right voltage for an amp. i think. they are about 200 or something. i'll try asking somepeople...

Yey, come to Manchester for Mayday

ok this is what we decided. Piccadilly Gardens at 12 noon to start the day rolling hopefully on a sunny afternoon, then a Critical Mass going to Platt Fields Park for a bit of a chill in the evening (I feel like a sleazy dj on smooth fm.. 8) )

Does that sound good?

It would be great if people could bring food. We're hoping to get some portable music together (outside of manchester people, you don't happen to have a spare amp and speakers that run off a car battery do you and that could be towed in a bike trailer? would be very useful if you did grin )

also if people can play instruments so we can make some of our own music that'd be good too.

Everyone welcome. would be really good to see people from birmingham, liverpool or anywhere (Alan_is_fucking_dead - come see some Manchester life) and then anyone whos up for it can go to see Conflict in the evening.

gonna do a flyer for it, shall i just put about the critical mass and the platfields park bit (what time did we say for the park 2-2:30?) cos i don't think there much point in asking people to come along and hand out leaflets in picadilly before hand. And the critical mass is going to go from the central library not picadilly cos it not the easiest place to get in/out of with bikes.
