Thank you for that intelligent contribution Tacks.
For those who don’t want to click the link and find out, the ARA is an infant Australian drug re-legalization organization consisting mainly of people who work in the medical, psychiatric and human services industries. We have already gained many supporters from these sectors through personal networking and are now reaching out to the wider, informed community. To be as efficient as possible, I chose to chip away at the authoritarian bureaucracy one issue at a time through direct action. I decided on, (in the ARA’s embryonic stage) the issue of drug re-legalization as it would enhance the lives (in the short term) of myself, my family and friends more than any other injustice to human freedom that I could think of.

The state controlling what goes on in your mind is quite unjust don’t you agree?

All we need is to know who will demonstrate their dissent with us, how many, and what city or regional centre you live so we can organize direct action accordingly.

By 'direct action' do you mean 'taking some drugs'?

Quite possibly yes, it is one way, but it depends on the numbers, I acknowledge that a couple of hundred people in black hoodies smoking a splif is going to achieve sweet f@#k all, but that isn’t what we envision. If enough people sign up and agree to a few small scale “pranks” around Australia in the name of the ARA, to warrant a little mainstream media attention, this will help perpetuate supporter numbers. If there are three to four thousand people out of the 3.7 million and 4.2 million people in Melbourne and Sydney respectively, who want do something about this criminalization regime, then something a little more substantial could be suggested. Certain corporate caffeine empires may be targeted, while clashing with police who will be trying to criminalize people on the spot is inevitable.
I am personally sick of arguing about this issue for so many years with sheltered politics academics and misinformed religious followers who base all their arguments on secondhand information presented to them by uninformed teachers, urban legends and media, and have such perversely wrong views on this matter, to people like us who have lived and/or and worked around the drug culture all out lives and know all out facts first hand.
In my experience, talking about how we should be more like the Dutch has got my nowhere and I am now, with the help of some others, focusing all my energy into DOING something about this, all we need is for some support from people that also believe this will, in the short term, make life under this authoritarian rule considerably better, and get us a little but closer to some freedom.
