Peter McGregor (1947--2008)

Peter McGregor, a recently-retired Australian academic and political activist, died last Friday, January 11, 2008. Over many years, Peter was involved in a number of anarchist groups, including Black Rose Books in Sydney, as well as many other campaigns and projects, especially as part of the movements to end the war in Vietnam and apartheid in South Africa. Many of his writings on the Vietnam-US(/Australia) war were published in 1998 as a book, Cultural Battles.

You can read more about Peter's life via the links on my blog:

"My understanding of what life is comes from Kurt Vonnegut’s [2005] autobiography A Man Without a Country where he says life is about helping each other get through it -- quite similar to the Eureka Oath, “to stand true to each other and fight to defend our rights and liberties".” -- Peter McGregor, on receiving a Eureka Day medal, December 3, 2007
