SydSol win vs cafe

Howdy,

The Sydney Solidarity Network just had a good win against a cafe in Redfern in inner-Sydney. We actually had to picket them this time, but not for very long. As usual, it was pretty easy. $365 from the bosses to the workers.

Hope to see some more of this around the country!

I am not sure if I understood what is the superannuation. I got the impression that it is a percentage of the income that the employer pays to the state as a part of some kind of retirement fund. But the conflict was about cash, wasn' it? How would you explain it to someone from Europe?wink I ask because it is a nice article which could be translated for Priama Akcia website. Thanks

Great, thanks for your interest in translating it!

Basically, superannuation is something that employers have to pay in addition to regular wages, and workers can access their superannuation money when they retire. Everyone has their own personal superannuation fund.

So for example, say I earn $1,000 a week, the employer also has to pay me an additional 9.25% into my superannuation account, so I get $1,000 wages and $92.5 superannuation.

Let me know if you need any more info!

No problem! Yeah, they didn't pay superannuation into her account. We fixed that though smile
