Good Fonts

I need a good selection of fonts for posters and leaflets. Problem is there are trillions of free fonts choose from online. Is there a pre-made package that contains a good selection of fonts without being overwhelmed with choices I can download for free anywhere?

Dunno but the two sites I've always used are dafont.com and acidfonts though acidfonts may be shit now it's been a while.

it's worth looking through the torrent sites, there's a few decent collections knocking about.

The Adobe Font Folio is a good collection of about 400 fonts in OpenType format, mostly of the less eccentric and more serious type (perhaps less suitable for leaflets and more for brochures and stuff, depending on your taste). There should be some torrents or rapidshare links around. If you want it and can't find it, just PM me.

Don't use 'free fonts', they are cheap and ugly.

I will use free fonts that other people pay for, the ones jura suggested. However some less dull ones might be good too for posters

888, you may also want to check out the "Top 40 MyFonts.com" Collection (available on your favorite torrent tracker or rapidshare forum). There are some less "dull" fonts in it as well, but in high quality and wide character ranges.

I managed to expropriate corel draw from a job a few years back and that had loads of font, so if there's anything you're after drop me a line.

Why the hell would anyone ever use anything other than Helvetica or Arial "for posters"? Ffs even Class War know what I'm talking about (see appropriate libcommunity thread)

What, so you haven't seen good posters that use other fonts than Helvetica? either your experience or taste must be very limited

"taste"

Seriously though, in the case of a poster communicating information relating to a political event or something like that, there is really no need for zany fonts of any type imo.
