For five days now medical specialists have been in a tent camp outside the Bulgarian Council of Ministers although their protest has been ignored by the authorities and the media refuses to report on it. Today, medical professionals have barricaded themselves in the NA Health Commission. Their demands are for decent salaries and improving of the working conditions (in the country with the poorest salaries and working conditions in Europe) and against the commercialisation of healtcare. They call for urgent reform of the health system. These radical actions come after more than a year of constant protests by nurses across the country. None of the nurses' demands have been met!

The occupation continues. The authorities refuse to negotiate and listen to the protesting nurses. Instead, they sent NSA officers who tried to force the sisters out from the building. They failed! The nurses insist on ending human health trade, abolishing the commercial status of hospitals, improving wages and working conditions, and radical reform to save public healthcare in Bulgaria.

From the begining of the protests last year, the nurses are supported by the anarcho-syndicalist union ARK (Avtonomna Rabotnicheska Konfederacija).

What do the ARK think of the act of nurses emigrating to Western Europe?
