An up-to-date songwriter poll so the wizened among us don't have it all their own way
Are we meant to know who any of those people are?!?!
well will odlham runs away with that one by the simple nature of all theothers being shit.
there are loads of other people who should be on that poll. Nina nastasia, jason molina, alasdair roberts etc
daddy of shite more like
Does this mean I'm not down wiv da kidz anymore, then?
Nah, sis. It just means da kidz ain't worf bin dahn wiv.
is the correct answer.
I, so I can carry on knitting and enjoying my nice warm fluffy slippers then? Listening to Carol King? Sweet 8)
I've heard of pollock!
will young is so dreamy,,,
Well, I've just started getting into David Rovics myself.
I just got hold of a copy of 'Behind The barricades' and I love what I've heard so far.
Anyone know of his other releases and where I could get those CD's?
aidan crowns it over that lot, no question
bonnie prince billy second, but nowhere near really
Me
who the fuck are any of them? apart from will young, whose music i have the misfortune to be acquainted with.
i reckon you'd like will oldham
aidan moffat, "singer" in the band arab strap, and sometime soloist in lucky pierre along with the occasional colloboration with mogwai
Oh, really? I like arab strap. I'm voting for him.
Mon the Strap!
Lou Barlow is the singer in Sebadoh/Sentridoh/Folk Implosion and one time of Dinosaur Jr
Conor Oberst is the singer/songwriter in Bright Eyes
Will Oldham is Bonnie "Prince" Billy, I included him without knowing any of his songs, I bought one of his albums today and was thoroughly underwhelmed, but twas the live one so perhaps that's why.
Go Moffat!
re: will oldham
best lps
palace music - s/t
bpb - i see a darkness (amazing!)
bpb - master and everyone
amalgamated sons of rest
film - matewan
conor obherst was also in a band called despreciados who released an LP on saddle creek called 'read music, speak spanish', which unlike all his other shite, is actually quite good
master and everyone is my fav bpb/will oldham
he's got a new one just out has he not, but it's just a collection of live tracks i think, kinda drifted away from him over the last year or so
They all suck.
Jonah Matrangah and the Wainrights are where it's at. 8)
Whoever says they like James Blunt dies.
On further listening bpb is not bad
