Of interest to anyone with an interest in social history the English Folk Dance and Song Society have launched their online archive.
Quite a long time in the making the slightly dubiously named 'Full English' (cheesy name for real ale?) archive is now online. Charting the development of English folk music in the 20th Century this should be a great resource for anyone interested in social history as collectors and ethno-musicologists travelled around the country recording in writing, music and in some instances early recordings of what they found performed in the country. Much of it had never been recorded in anyway before and therefore is an extremely important record of labouring people's history as told by themselves.
I would urge anyone in London to travel to Camden / Regents Park to check out Cecil Sharp House where the archive is located or otherwise have a browse online.
