it is, isn't it?
i had to go the second page to pull up the thread
weird, appears as a sticky for me, and doesn't look to have been edited.
It's been a sticky for year, Petey is just losing his marbles, or using the tracker perhaps.
yes on the tracker it's a 'forum topic'.
who doesn't use the tracker? weirdos.
ps - the captcha below has an upside-down-and-backwards word in it. let's see if i can get this posted.
http://libcom.org/user/123935 - loads of "news" articles promoting penis enlargement pills.

dump truck insurance?
I'm disappointed that someone deleted the one about stretchmarks.
Today, there's a spam attack, predictably; a way of sifting out spammers through a simple quiz for new users seems pretty essential and URGENT if this site isn't going to be inundated (and we ain't seen nothing yet).
Most of the newly registered users have been spammers and people who think that a libertarian communist forum is the best place to share theories about history they thought up while on the crapper. I suggest blocking new registrations until a system can be put in place to screen out spammers. I think ABC or one of the others has a system where you have to comment on a specific thread, then await admin approval to actually be able to post.
To be fair though a lot of older posters think LibCom is a place to share theories of history that I ... I mean, they... thought up on the crapper.
But I do think a quiz or an admin check is a good way to go, and quickly too. I don't think we should block new registrations though. Just implement the new system as soon as possible.
there is a topic called 'Air Your Views' and its an advert for that shite TV program shipwrecked....

put a link please.
Thought I'd posted something like this, but my computer's fucked and I probably didn't save ...
Variation on Tojiah's suggestion: the first post of new registrations have to be subject to pre-moderation, "a system where you have to comment on a specific thread, then await admin approval to actually be able to post". Something should be done soon without all these delays and hesitations because one day, maybe soon (June 30th?) libcom will be hit by a tsunami of spam that'll drown out the rest. Don't know if it is technically very difficult to bring in this change, and I know admin have loads of other stuff to do, but long term it'll reduce their burden.
How about volunteer checkers? I'd be able to help check out postings.
For fuck's sake this guy. I just went over the whole first page of the tracker reporting his posts, all in "news".
I blocked him, but the actual spam has to be removed still.

danice (above) is all over the site: I've reported some, but he/she was on for over an hour before I banned him/her as a spammer.....First spam was this, but there've been a million since...
Fuck me, that was mental.. deleted all of it now.
Thanks whoever reported all the spam last night/this morning!

Too many links to list I'm afraid.
I've just deleted 25-30 from that one.
Next time could you link to the profile, it makes it easier to find, although in this case as he'd spammed over 60 articles he stood out
Thanks to whoever reported all those links sunday morning, made deleting them a lot easier.
Is there any record kept of deleted spam? It seems to me like there's getting to be more of it.
There was talk about spam prevention before, I'm not in favour of the revolutionary questionnaire, but one way would be to limit new posters to 5 posts in the first 24 hours unless they pm'd a mod. Not sure if you can do that on drupal though.
