New Russian social advertising: children should not be afraid to die for their country

Submitted by meerov21 on April 28, 2016

New Russian social advertising is about their "victory day" (9 may). The spirit of a little boy who died during the second world war teaches modern children: to die for homeland is not scary.

Actually 9 may, which is celebrated in Russia as victory day over Germany, is one of the most important state cults.

First, Ghost explains that during the war he went to work in a factory when he was 10 years old. There he helped make shells for the army. Then the Nazis shot his mother and he went to fight and participated in the war. In the end the girl asked, was he scared to die? He says: "It doesn't matter, it only matters that we won."

There are several individuals here trying to explain me something about modern Russia. What you see is part of the official propaganda. This is to give you an idea what kind of world we live in Russia.

This is really horrible. Thinking about children being fodder for the state and its imperial games is the most horrible thing on earth. But as someone who doesn't speak any Russian, the prevailing feeling in this video I get is that none of these kids really want to be a part of this. They may repeat the propaganda but they do it silently.

I'm not sure the kids realize what was going on.
On the other hand I do not exclude that they will suffere serious mental trauma as a result of participation in this film.

It's great that the state that arose from the breaking of the Soviet Union is now abusing its triumphs in its own name. Surely they should discuss that 'victory day' as well, and not just leave such things to Taylor Swift, who doubtless has little of interest to say about such things?

A bit like the British discussing how Carol Ann Duffy is in their great tradition of the Rigveda.

Well that is true this state arose from the breaking of the Soviet Union.

;)

Sure. But But why do you think they are abusing the victory of USSR?
At least Stalin used child labour at the factories during the second world war. This is the truth. This is fact, and even in the USSR was proud of it and I remember how we get this storys about child labour in the USSR and even showed it in the movie.

"We cast out devils from those of Jewish children"

It's another thing to know about modern Russia.

28 April in Moscow, activists of the "National liberation movements" - organizations affiliated with the Kremlin (their leader - the Deputy from ruling party United Russia - Fedorov) attacked the participants of the school history of the contest, which conducts by human rights society "Memorial". They poured green paint and threw eggs at the writer Lyudmila Ulitskaya and children who came there.

— Why are you throwing eggs to the children ? — asked the correspondent of "Medusa" from activists.

— We cast out devils from those of Jewish children, — explained the the man with the accordion.

Another performance of Putin's supporters. "Russian song": "Putin, Putin - is the Best President!" "Putin, Putin is a strong argument! " singing by children.

Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I don't get the Swift or Duffy analogies(?)

Swift recently released albums named 'Red' and '1989.' They are ditzy like that. As far as Britain, they were a recognised poet in Britain, like Elizabeth II was a recognised head of state, and indeed the two had much in common.
