Preceding the formation of the long standing and extremely active "Neither East Nor West", the Friendship Committee was "made up of U.S. activists in the NYC area (who have a history of involvement in many areas like disarmament, labor, ecology, woman's and Third World issues, etc) and peace activists who have been exiled from the U.S.S.R. ... and were "dedicated to crossing and abolishing the boundaries and frontiers that have been imposed on us against our wills, and for fighting for a world of peace and freedom for everyone."
