According to the National Committee of the CNT-AIT, Juan Gomez Casas was born in Burdeos in 1921. In 1936 Gomez Casas joined the main youth organisation affiliated with the CNT-AIT, Juventudes Libertarias (Libertarian Youth).

From an anarchist family, he spent fifteen years (1908-1923) in the care of his grandmother and separated from his parents who had emigrated to the Americas.

Maria Mombiola was born on 3rd March 1914 in Saragossa, Spain. With the victory of fascist General Franco after the Spanish Civil War, Maria was separated from her daughter when she was interned in the French concentration camp in the Tarn region.

Antonio Zapata Cordoba was born in San Javier in Murcia, Spain in 1908. The youngest of four brothers of a family of day labourers, he attended a rationalist school set up by miners from the age of 5, which had a profound effect on him. At the age of 9 he had to start work in the fields. He went to Barcelona at the age of 12 here his brothers were working.

Jose Lluis Facerias was born in Barcelona on the 6th January 1920. When the military revolt took place in July 1936 sparking the Civil War and Revolution, “Face” was already affiliated to the Spanish anarcho-syndicalist union the National Confederation of Labour (CNT) and to the Iberian Federation of Libertarian Youth (FIJL).

Benigno was known as Foucellas after the village in La Corunna where he was born. In 1936 before the start of the civil war he was working with a locksmith in Mesia and was member of the anarcho-syndicalist union the CNT.

Guillen, Manuel Lozano, 1904-1945

Manuel Lozano Guillen

A short biography of Spanish anarcho-syndicalist militant Manuel Lozano Guillen, who was executed by General Franco's government in 1945.

Born in Belver de Cinco into a poor peasant family in 1904, Manuel emigrated at an early age to Catalonia, working as a labourer in various jobs. As a militant in the anarchist trade union the CNT he was persecuted by the police and exiled in France during the Primo de Rivera dictatorship.
