Yongsan in Seoul is to be "redeveloped", that is gentrified. This is effecting not only residents, but many small family-run businesses in the area. Members of the Committee of Residents Forced Out of Yongsan District 4 in Seoul and the National Coalition of Forcefully Relocated People decided on Jan. 19 to occupy a building in protest.

Berlin squatted community space under attack
The Köpi, a legalised squat and cultural center in Berlin, has been under attack from political and police forces for some time - as are many other such spaces in Berlin's "New Mitte."
Now, tactics of police intimidation are being used in an attempt to shut down the centre's social events and political organizing, particularly around the upcoming G8 summit.

Locked out of Acton's Lock
Residents of the Whiston and Goldsmiths' estates - and especially those in Debdale Court - are less than impressed with Hackney Council and British Waterways over the proposed development at Acton's Lock.
Squeezed between Debdale Court and the Regents Canal at the Eastern End of Whiston Road, the five-story building will comprise 25 flats and a restaurant.
Dalston occupation update - eviction?
libcom has just heard that a hearing at Shoreditch County Court has resulted in an eviction order being granted at Dalston Theatre, it could therefore be evicted any time after 7pm this evening.
Nearly two weeks after it was occupied as part of a wider campaign against gentrification and property developers in Hackney, Dalston Theatre remains standing after the occupiers won a high court victory against Hackney Council.

Dalston Theatre occupied
Dalston Theatre, formerly the Four Aces Nightclub has been occupied by local residents to prevent its demolition today.
The occupiers have issued the following statement:
This morning (Monday 20th February) supporters of the campaign against council sell offs on Dalston Lane and Broadway Market in Hackney occupied Dalston Theatre (formerly The Four Aces) and two adjacent houses on Dalston Lane.

Successful residents' campaign to save much loved local pub in Tottenham threatened by developers
After 3 months of campaigning by local residents and users of the Fountain Pub in West Green Rd, N15 the Council finally conceded that it can't allow such a well-used local community facility to be demolished or turned into yet another a block of flats.
