I mainly go onto the BBC news site to use their weather tracker, but occasionally a story will catch my eye. Today was one of those days. There's a report on a town in southern Mexico that has experienced five years of peace, and it achieved this by chasing out gangsters and the local police and political parties.

Its not exactly the CherĂ¡n Commune but the town seems to have accomplished quite a bit through self organisation. They've not only eliminated crime in a state that's one of the most violent but they've carried out environmental regeneration work and have taken the land into collective ownership.
I found some news from when the establishment of Cheran's autonomy was a recent development.

Yeah, I was being a bit facetious there's still some good programmes and news stories on their, especially their historical stuff and culture stories. But I've definitely been using it a lot less nowadays.
