One of the five registered trade unions at the company engaged in an unannounced stoppage and disrupted normal operations at the company's Uttarpara Plant on March 12 2007.

As of yesterday morning, equitybulls.com reported that large sections of the workforce returned to work and operations have resumed at the plant. The Company expected that over the next few shifts, full normalcy would be restored.

However, picketing and sloganeering by some workers continued. News reports stated that "law and order" were being maintained in and around the plant with the help of Civil Administration and relevant authorities. Hindustan Motors is hopeful that "good sense shall prevail" and the remaining strikers would "join the mainstream, soon."

We have been unable to ascertain the demands of the workers, if anyone has any more information please contact us.
