From the Archives, this is a Police Document that reports about the status of KAPD's military units in Kiel, Hamborn and Himmeln. Also present is a questionnaire from KAJ groups. The original document can be found in "Rheinland-Westfalen" with the signature :StAB, 4.65, 1230" in the Bremen State Archives.
The chairman of the Northern District of the KAPD, Comrade Oelschläger – Kiel, Körnerstr. 11, came as a courier to the Altona local group. His trip was primarily for personal orientation regarding the situation in the district, specifically concerning the status of the K.O. He announced, among other things, that a strong KO existed in Kiel and that sufficient weapons were available, particularly at the shipyards, and specifically in the hands of the VKPD. A general inventory of the war material in the possession of the communists would soon take place. Eckernförde was also well-equipped.
The district leaderships of the communist youth organizations received a circular with the instruction to immediately answer the following questions:
1. How many bicycles and motorcycles are present in the group?
2. How many can be made available at any time?
3. How many gunsmiths, mechanics, etc., are present in the group? How many are skilled in repair work on Gewehr 98 rifles?
4. Are there weapons depots of the reactionaries in the district, as well as depots with spare parts for rifles and machine guns (M.-G.)?
5. Are reliable comrades available as informants for the Pfadfinderkorps, Jungdeutschlandbünde, and similar organizations?
6. Are volunteer units, old riflemen bands, or similar groups present? Are there informants for these? The strength and deployment situation of the counter-revolution must be specified.
The functionary of the AAU, Wagner, was sent from Hamburg as a courier to Hamborn to establish contact with the Hamborn AAU. Upon his return, he submitted a report, from which the following, among other things, is noteworthy; he stated: “As is known, we received two urgent letters from the Reich Economic Council with the request to prove our solidarity in the expected actions. For this purpose, a functionaries’ meeting was held to discuss possible cooperation with the KAPD Hamborn. The merger has also taken place with regard to the KO. The leader of the meeting, Comrade Paslack, then introduced me to the local KO, and I was amazed at how advanced it was there. Sufficient weapons and ammunition are available; a factory in Essen is working for the KO. From there, I traveled to Himmeln, a small town of about 5,000 inhabitants. Here I found the best-organized KO of the AAU that I have ever encountered.”
