I overcame my reluctance to engage with more Zoom type meetings this time. It was a useful introduction to the key historical and current differences between anarchist communists and other anarchist traditions for anyone fairly new contemplating choices as to the direction of their politics in choices beyond the traditional left, but not really time to explore more nuanced differences in at least organisation and strategy as between specifically the ACG and other assumed anarchist communists as for instance the Irish WSM and the UK Anarchist Federation. There is probably more scope as well to discuss sometime, issues around organisational federation and centralisation as between both the different anarchist and even other left/council communist groups active today. Well worth others taking time to listen to the recording when available and then to take up any follow-up questions directly with the ACG.

Audio of this event is now available: Anarchist Communism Vs Big Tent Anarchism.

From our recent London Anti-University meeting, ACG speakers look at the tradition of anarchist communism and explore its distinctness from other anarchist currents.

The speakers discuss a range of questions such as the role of organisation, insurrectionism, class analysis, freedom and collective responsibility, attitudes towards Labour and support for national liberation. They address these questions by looking at specific contexts, from the Russian Revolution to today’s pandemic, and how we can best build an effective revolutionary anarchist movement.

You can hear it from our At the Café podcast page or via a range of platforms at Anchor FM.
