I just thought I'd restart this thread. I wanted to respond to the claim that George Carlin was sexist. From my own perspective, I'm not convinced that he was. I think he was clearly against political correctness but I thought I'd just post these two videos in his defense regarding the sexism thing. I'm not convinced he was an anarchist but he was mentioned in the previous Anarchist Stand-Up thread and his world view can be said to be similar to that of an anarchist and so he is appreciated by some anarchists.

I wouldn't be too bothered if Carlin, Hicks and so on weren't all that I'd like them to be. I know for a fact there's a hundred or so different groups/identities who claim Carlin as "one of their own." My two cents is if that they weren't on stage expounding on political theories or explicitly aligning themselves in some way politically, then that is what it is. I wouldn't try representing Carlin as some great "anarchist comedian" just because he made some ambiguous social critiques through his comedy. (Carlin's approach to sexuality in the second video doesn't sound very anarchist-informed in my opinion.)
