Anarcho-Communism in Greater Vancouver?

Submitted by Faarian on March 8, 2016

HI everyone,

I am a new international student at SFU, BC, Canada. I am eager to know about any possible Anarcho-Communist, Anarcho-Syndacalist or similar groups and activities in this area-Greater Vancouver. Can anyone give me some info about that?

Best,

I could ask around. I have some contacts out west.l, though most in Edmonton. There are some solid folks in the TSSU.at least.

I've sent a few email to a couple of people that should know if such groups exist in Vancouver or close by. I think at some point there was a Vancouver anarchist book fair, but I can't remember if it was recent.

I've tried to reply to your message, but so far, I can't find out how to do that! I'm new here, so not familiar with these simple things

OK, so there is an IWW branch there. It's functioning. From my contacts they said that's the best bet to meet anarco commies. In their words, Vancouver is mostly a countercultural shitshow.

I think (not sure though) that new posters can't send PMs straight away, so so spammers can't spam, drive-by assholes can't harass etc. Ask an admin to clear you :)

Thanks! I found this weblog, so now at least I can be informed of their future events.

Weird, I didn't get a PM.

OK, anyhow it's my message with some small changes

Hi,

I'm doing my MA in philosophy. Actually, because this semester I began working as a TA too, I participated in some workshops by TSSU. But as I'm new here and for new, I'm encountering some basic problems like speaking English, so I haven't made contact with people at TSSU so far. Maybe, I'll do that in the future, but I'm more inclined in finding some Anarcho-Communist groups and activities around here. I came from a country which because of many things, including the reactionary dictatorship there, I couldn't take part in any such activities. Here, even if I have a chance to join a study group -and reading Das Kapital ideally- it will be great. Many thanks for your help!
