Not sure how much people outside of Australia know him, but Mundey was a very important figure in the history of Australian class struggle. He was a key leader in the New South Wales Builder's Labourers Federation as they entered a period of unprecedented militancy, combining the interests of its members with the ecological concerns of local residents, saving countless historical buildings from demolition with their now famous 'Green Bans'.

One of the things that Jack Mundey introduced to NSW BLF that really gave the Maoist federal leadership the shits was insisting that the union officials start work in the BLF office at 6am - the time that BLs would start on site.
