One person dead following nazi manifestation in Helsinki

Submitted by altemark on September 17, 2016

A 28-year old man has died following head trauma when attacked by right-wing extremists participating in a demonstration in Helsinki, Finland, on September 10th

In a statement posted on Facebook the father of young man details how "he was attacked in connection the the Resistance movement protest, with one of their skinheads assaulting my son, causing him serious head trauma", continuing that he "later died because of this totally unnecessary violence".

This description of events fits with the narrative produced by the nazis themselves, posted on their homepage, where they called the attack a "disciplinary action", and on a video posted by them a man is seen lying bloodied on the street.

Yesterday, the logo of the Swedish wing of the same nazi grouping was spraypainted on the house of a local politician from the Swedish social democrats (also a member of the majority LO union). This would indicate that the Nordic Resistance Movement also are responsible for the concurrent torching the individuals car, parked right beside his house. Local social democrats have been targets for nazi threats previous to this.

The fascist group is going to hold a previously planned demo in inner city Stockholm on November 12th. Here are some links to planned counter-initiatives: https://www.facebook.com/events/198606173892153/ https://www.facebook.com/events/336871643322080/
