In memory of three people who've played some kind of role in US prison struggle who passed away recently:
There's a full obituary for Karen Smith, outside organizer who played a big role in supporting prison strikes in Florida here: https://antistasisproject.wordpress.com/2020/12/01/next-step-we-burn-it-down/
There doesn't seem to be a full obituary for Rebecca Hensley from Louisiana anywhere, but a few people involved in the movement have been sharing their appreciation for her, eg here, here and here.
Lastly, Oregon anarchist prisoner Brian McCarvill passed away in September, apparently as a result of the Oregon prison system's deadly mishandling of the COVID pandemic. Not a particularly well-known name, he was involved in a successful lawsuit back in 2003 against ODOC censoring anarchist publications. You can read a 2003 write-up he did for Green Anarchist here, and here's some comments he wrote critiquing Engels' text "On Authority" (with help from a few others, including one John Z.)
