Learning Resources on Organizing

Submitted by Lucky Black Cat on May 1, 2021

Happy May Day!

Since today is International Workers’ Day, I think it’s a good time to share this list of learning resources on workplace organizing.

The list is divided into the following sections:

* For Beginners: How to Organize!
* Beginner friendly but more in depth
* Big picture
* Websites with organizing stories
* External support
* Organizing and activism beyond the workplace

I originally posted this list on the IWW subreddit last year, and created the list as a supplement to a video I released on workplace organizing, adding a link to the list in both the video description and pinned comment.

The list includes the Libcom Organise guide (both the workplace guide and also the overall guide) and I also gave it a shout-out in the video because I think it’s an excellent and accessible resource for beginners, plus the pictures are great.

I also included SolFed in the list (I think some people here are members), SolFed's book Fighting For Ourselves, and Angry Workers' book Class Power on Zero-Hours.

If you know resources to add to the list, please recommend them.

Feel free to share the list far and wide (link https://www.reddit.com/r/IWW/comments/h89e4n/a_list_of_learning_resources_on_workplace/).

I hope everyone has a good May Day. And good luck fighting capitalism!

I recently added this guide to the library: https://libcom.org/library/organising-101-dave-smith
Copied over from the ongoing column here: https://hazards.org/organising101/index.htm
Definitely worth a read imo, Dave Smith really knows his stuff.
