Spanish 8M general strike

Submitted by Salvoechea on March 25, 2018

The outstanding (and surprising) success of the first feminist General strike in Spain have shown the potential of the confluence between social movements and radical trade unions. It also marks an obviety: if you call for a general strike you need unions to organise it. Thou it was not a particularly followed strike it was quite remarkable due to the absence of Spain's biggest unions (CCOO and UGT). So the work falled in hands of radical unions backed by a miriad of feminist committees in every town or neighbourhood.
