Hmm... I wondered how accurate Kropotkin's portrayal of collectivism was in Conquest of Bread, but I wasn't sure where to look to find out one way or the other. I guess James Guillaume's work is a good place to start?

Kropotkin's portrayal was not accurate at all because he 1; assumed that labor vouchers were the same as money, and 2; assumed that one's status in the society collectivist Anarchists argued for was determined by the control of labor vouchers. Two is not true because basic needs such as shelter would be provided freely according to need. One isn't true because labor vouchers don't circulate and are thus not commodities unlike money.
