Kronstadt - a short film

Kronstadt sailors

A short film about the Kronstadt rebellion of 1921 against the Bolshevik dictatorship.

Recently I made this short film about the Kronstadt rebellion. It is not intended as a comprehensive history of the heroic and tragic events of 1921. Instead I hope it serves as a brief overview of the revolt which will be of particular interest to those researching it for the first time.

I'd appreciate it if you could share it with anyone who may be interested. Any feedback about the film is welcome!

an alright one is the russian revolution in colour - it's kinda bush-wah, but it does go over Kronstadt and such.

I've never read up on Kronstadt so it was a good introduction, succinct and easy to understand. I felt the follow up links were important. What was the badass music?

'Likewise, the seeds of inhumanity sown by Lenin and the Bolsheviks must not be forgotten by those who call themselves socialists.'

I liked it, thanks for sharing.

Excellent! Concise, to the point, and with the useful link to detailed information at the end. You should do more of these!

Like it. Thanks!

Great stuff! Even rather moving...

Also, it's worth pointing out that the heroic Kronstadt sailors' skull and crossbones banner says "Death to the bourgeoisie!", and you can't say fairer than that.

Thanks for that! I was trying to sound it out.

Great film gonzokid. Concise and effective.

I forgot to say, brilliant as the film is, the name 'Gonzo' at the end is a bit confusing and makes it sound a bit schlocky - given the definition of a 'gonzo flick' embarrassed

The Kronstadt banner is so freaking wicked.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I'm hoping to do some more in the future, probs one on Makhno and one on Spain.

wojtek - the music is The Song of the Volga Boatman. I liked it because of it's haunting quality.

Serge - Comrade Gonzo is just an alias I like to work under, blame a misspent (or well-spent, depending on your point of view) adolesence reading Hunter S Thompson!
