A short biography of Enno Wolf, German anarchist who perished in the Nazi concentration camps
Enno Wolf was on born on 30th August 1903. Little is known about his life. He was a member of the Kassel group of the anarchosyndicalist Free Workers' Union of Germany (FAUD).
Unlike in other regions, the FAUD in Kassel never really gained a foothold, they never had more than three dozen members who were also mostly unemployed. The Kassel anarchosyndicalists organised events and printed posters, leaflets and newspapers. With great enthusiasm, they also distributed newspapers, selling many on the streets.
The Kassel FAUD had a not inconsiderable influence in the unemployed movement, with Enno, alongside Willi Paul and Fred Schroeder, taking a leading role in the unemployed committee. Enno’s apartment was where all the propaganda material of the Kassel unemployed movement was written and printed.
The Gestapo made repeated attempts to smash the FAUD and Enno was arrested and sent to the the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. He was released from there in December 1938. Presumably, he was then re-arrested. According to Willi Paul, Enno Wolf died in the concentration camps.
He still appears in the address book of the city of Kassel in 1939 but the following year, only his wife is listed as a widow.
