The management of the SRPP (Reunion petroleum products company) gave into the workers demands after less than 24 hours. Workers won a shift bonus, which is approximately equivalent to an 8% salary increase.

Workers walked out and immediately blockaded the fuel depots. As SRPP is the only supplier to petrol stations on the island many stations ran out of supplies, customers had begun panic buying on Friday after the strike was announced. An agreement was made to allow management and non-strikers to supply independent petrol stations several hours before the final agreement was made.
