Internationalism & Sympathy Politics

If 2026 has been anything, it has at least been an interesting year for geopolitics. The United States started the year strong with the capture of Nicolas Maduro and his wife (which itself has resulted in no meaningful changes in Venezuela or the U.S., and everyone, even those of the “left”, have seemed to simply forget it even happened). Followed by a coordinated Israeli-American strike on Iran and of course an ever hungry appetite for the small island of Cuba. Before we get to the main course of this article, the war with Iran, we’d like to devote a few words to the Cuban State and its future, or lack thereof.
