Teachers at Pontllanfraith Comprehensive in Caerphilly county were unhappy about a new system for extra responsibility payments. In a statement, governors, the NASUWT union and council said they had reached "a joint resolution to the problems".

The dispute centred on new payments which are worth up to £11,000 a year.

"Productive talks with Acas led to the position where all industrial action at Pontllanfraith Comprehensive School has been called off," the statement read.

"The governors of the school, the NASUWT union and Caerphilly county borough council LEA are pleased that a joint resolution to the problems at the school has been secured. Pupils and staff at Pontllanfraith Comprehensive School now look forward to working and studying as usual."

The announcement follows a long running dispute and a one day strike earlier in the month, where further all-out strikes had been proposed.
