Anarchist state theory

Submitted by klas batalo on May 3, 2016

Couldn't find a dedicated thread through search function.

Anyone care to help me research or link dump articles from libcom or elsewhere about anarchist theories of the state?

This is our intro to the state: https://libcom.org/library/state-introduction

at the bottom there is some further reading with hyperlinks, copied here:
More information
• Private property, exclusion and the state -Junge Linke - Brief article examining the role the state plays in capitalist society.
• The state: Its historical role - Peter Kropotkin - A classic anarchist test examining the state's role in society.
• The state in capitalist society - Ralph Miliband - Excellent book analysing the nature of the state and how it cannot be used in workers' interests (not online unfortunately).
• Capital and the state - Gilles Dauvé - More detailed libertarian communist analysis of the state.
• Marxism, freedom and the state - Mikhail Bakunin - A collection of writings of the Russian anarchist with comments on the state which were sadly proved accurate with the experiences of state socialist revolutions.
• The Bolsheviks and workers' control -Solidarity - A detailed examination of the anti-working class policies of the Bolsheviks in the earliest days of the Russian revolution.
• Labouring in vain -Subversion - A critical history of the Labour Party from a working-class perspective.

We would like to have a State reading guide (like this one: https://libcom.org/library/france-1968-reading-guide), so if anyone would like to compile all these links into a guide for our reading guides section we would really appreciate it!

ha ha whoops, yes I put that up myself, I didn't realise we haven't updated the intro which I just copied and pasted from. I'll do that this weekend, unless anyone else has time to go edit it in beforehand
