If there is some theory i have missed out on, then its probably on bars. Most likely because i have been living in it, so i didnt have any need to study it from "the outside".
Any ways so here goes some trivial questions:
what role does bars plays in the capitalist society? And is there a relation to socialism?
Have you never heard Alex

I heard this scurrilous tale
I heard this scurrilous tale several times in the sixties.
There was a serious bust up between the Glasgow anarchist group and Freedom Press after WW2. A number of the comrades decided to get tooled-up, go south, and sort the b*****ds out. The plan went swimmingly until they arrived at the railway station and discovered they were too early and adjourned to a nearby hostelry. At closing time they wisely wandered unsteadily homeward.
The moral is, avoid having a bevy if you have an appointment with destiny.

A bottle of red wine and a couple of pints lager last night and I feel only half alive. Thanks for being a good example, Noah. And I wasn't too safe cycling to town this morning either.
Well, as drugs go, I would
Well, as drugs go, I would say from my vast experience of the topic, alcohol is probably the best and the worst. There's nothing quite like that first mouthful of beer after a day at work and it's a very social substance too. On the other hand, it's devilishly moreish stuff, is very expensive and is also very bad for the body. The benefits of quitting are pretty mega. Everyone should at least give it a try for say 3 or 6 months. It's not like there won't be any left if you decide to get stuck in again.
Well i have an innate desire
Well i have an innate desire to be independent. It goes as much against the state, as it does against beer. I dont mind drinking beer, but it should be because i am in control and it should be because i want to. I would never become dependent on alcohol. If beer should start to control me then i would quit drinking beer because i dont like to be controlled. I dont see beer or alcohol as something bad. Just enjoy it in moderate quantities. Buy some of the more better beers and you will enjoy it even more. If there is something that is bad, then it is if you drink something in excessive quantities and it is expensive too.
I went to a pub in Old Street
I went to a pub in Old Street last week which only stocks Craft Beers. They all tasted home made. Nothing wrong with that if you made it at home but why pay a premium for it. Give me factory liquor any day.

A true Tennents Super
A true Tennents Super story;
12. Before Christmas, a newspaper advert had promised free cans of lager to those who turned up to the Brick Lane showing of the Watch The K Foundation Burn A Million Quid film. As things turned out this didn’t happen, so Bill and Jimmy made a huge cube of 6,237 cans of Tennents Super. A planned publicity stunt didn’t really work out, so they spent Christmas Eve distributing them to the homeless before being bollocked by a Crisis worker for being “utterly irresponsible.”

Has anyone here ever organized in a bar/pub or known those who did so with any degree of success? I have quite a few friends/comrades in the industry so knowing success stories would be useful.
