ASF Melbourne has won its dispute with Ninety Plus Education Centres over unpaid wages to one of its members.
Ninety Plus Education Centres hires tutors to provide education services and specialist tuition to improve university entrance scores.
Our member had completed the interview and the 8 hours training when they were informed that their services were no longer required.
The company refused to pay for the time spent training on the grounds it was part of the interview process. ASF Melbouirne entered into direct negotiations with the company and successfully recovered the unpaid wages of $322.00
ASF Melbourne is affiliated with ASF-IWA, the Australian section of the International Workers Association. ASF-IWA upholds the principle that workers are always paid for their time and is steadfast in its opposition to zero hour contracts, unpaid 'trials' and unpaid training hours.

The company is registered in Australia and its targeted demographic appears to be Mandarin-speaking primary and secondary students.

Since the federal government deregulated the provision of education services there has been a proliferation of dodgy 'private colleges' that target overseas students in particular.
In the end, it only took two finely crafted emails to get them to come to the party. Too easy.
