HI all, can anyone recommend any good, radical books about industrial action in the UK in the late 20th century? So miner's strike, winter of discontent etc.
The only stuff I can think of , personally, would be stuff written by Dave Douglas such as Pit Sense Versus The State, although thats a pamphlet not a book. I'd check out his stuff if I were you though and he's probably done atleast one book. He was a Miner himself and participated in the Miner's struggle. From what I've heard/read, he is a good source.
When The Lights Went Out - Britain in the 70s by Andy Beckett has stuff on Winter of Discontent and other bits. Some quotes from that bk included here; http://libcom.org/history/delightful-measures-changed-reflections-1978-79-winter-discontent
Thanks guys. I googled the Thatcher quote in the Sheila Cohen article and found Ours to Master and to Own: Workers' Control from the Commune to the Present by Immanuel Ness. Anyone read it?
