Much has been made of the political significance of Star Wars but the reality is that it's a load of old wank. I am in the perfect position to make this assertion as I have had the good sense never to have seen it. I'd be interested to hear the opinions of others that have displayed the same sagacity. Obviously those that have seen it can fuck right off.
There have been a number of scientific studies of the Star Wars phenomenon. One in particular reached a very interesting conclusion but I will save this for later on in the debate.

Now come on Serge, do you really need to ask that question? Clearly Star Trek is the greatest political space show of all time, just look at this episode teaching us the perils of pacifism;

Star Wars on the other hand is much quoted by conspiracy theorists as being the true story of the battles being fought by the powers of good and evil across the universe with that well know Bilderberger Dath Vader trying to prevent The Force(God consciousness) that will save us all. Or something.

Tut tut. I'm surprised at you, Webby, taking that David Icke as gospel on serious stuff like Star Wars. You gain a few bonus points though for reminding us of that top notch Star Trek episode.

On the matter of the interesting study I mentioned in the OP I will have to cut and paste the thrust of the thing as inexplicably I am unable to post the link.

Thanks Potrokin, it's all
Thanks Potrokin, it's all coming out, right? Last night a couple of libcommie comrades went to see the new Star Wars movie with 7 or 8 friends/aquaintances of the aliberal bent. The liberals drooled all over it while the anarchos both fell asleep. Incontrovertible proof that you're a liberal if you like Star Wars.
We can now expel the liberal infiltrators as they expose themselves. Should we start with Kahwaga?

Oy, who you calling a libruhl, Mr. Fence. And Star Wars was actually an allegory for the rise of fascism out of a democracy, however poorly executed it was in the prequels.

Ah, but is that true when if the whole story is fabricated? Ha! I win again.

Maybe it could also be interpreted as being anti statist too, because in the prequels the Jedi are closely allied with the republic, don't trust the public and actually seek power for themselves. Their failures are partly responsible for the fall of the republic and rise of the empire.
Also their view of the force that there is order within it takes inspiration from real world Taoism which is quosi anarchistic in its view loosely that nature does things effortlessly, hence we shouldn't impose control on things (similar to the Jedi view that we are of the force, the force acts through us, we should submit to it) hence we shouldn't have a government.
Only they don't come to those conclusions, they care more about peace than freedom and overlook slavery, class and hierarchy.
P.S someone should make a star wars fan fiction with an anarchist Jedi faction :D
Listen up, this analysis
Listen up, this analysis stuff is not what this thread is about. It's purpose is to give me a place to show off, make up daft shit and generally make an ass of myself whilst still making clear that I know that Star Wars is shit.
Have some respect, eh?

Lol sorry Noah but was never going to work naming a thread 'Star Wars' and not expecting star wars nerds like me to do all the analysis stuff.
Now I am not sure if you're being 'anti-anarchist' for dictating the conversation of the thread or if I am and should give you space. Then again libcom should have a zero tolerance policy for star wars haters! :p
In respect though the film's aren't actually that great although I liked Rogue One and the prequels whilst the force awakens was utter shit, but the star wars universe and all the lore behind it is awesome.
This thread really, really

I watched the first three
I watched the first three made (someone gave me the box set), and it was enjoyable - like confectionary.
It may be cack, though the fact that it is wildly popular makes it of some interest. I feel it was an easy sell to a public wanting a return to a simple narrative. Like many old Westerns the story could be interrupted in a number of ways. After the likes of Easy Rider (1969), Star Wars replaced moral ambiguity - we knew who were the goodies and the baddies and it was as sexy as an ad for toothpaste. It was both enchanting and psychologically sterile. So worth watching once.

just read that article^ the other day. I realize that growing up a Star Wars dork means that I'm also getting Star Wars radicalized........lol like I need them to do a First Order stand-alone movie and the Clone Wars is a great example of the perils of pacifism via Jedi.......
I could also use some tips organizing with people who are so bored they use the internet just to shit on OTHER people's interests........I have a hard time relating to people like this. Like the kind of folks who loudly announce how unique they are because they didn't vibe with that one show or movie that keeps the masses of sheeple so dumbed down and lazy and fat........those people are so enlightened and savvy......surely they will be the revolutionary vanguard!
