International of Anarchist Federations (IFA/IAF) declares its support for J20 protest and actions against Donald Trump.
English
#DisruptJ20
As International of Anarchist Federations (IAF-IFA), we support the demonstrations planned to take place during the inauguration of Donald Trump, 20 January 2017.
It should go without saying that we do not support Hilary Clinton or any other politician : we know they are both faces of capitalism, racism and war. But the inauguration of Trump means the legitimisation of white supremacism, neo-nazism and mysoginy.
We don't give a damn about élections ; the change we fight for will be archived only by ourselves, trought direct action.
We expect nothing from politicians but suffering, exploitation and oppression.
We stand with all those experiencing police attacks, racist murders and sexist violence.
In solidarity,

In solidarietà,
CRIFA (Commissione Relazioni dell’Internazionale delle Federazioni Anarchiche)
riunita a Marsiglia il 3-4 dicembre 2016

Seems like a standard issue
Seems like a standard issue Leftist statement.
Are the Republican party really some sort of manifestation of "neo-nazism"?
And would there have been any demos against the inauguration of a Democratic Party president?

I'm sort of with you, Rat, I don't see much value in an inauguration demo - or, really, any demo for demo's sake. And no, despite the fact that Trump has mainstreamed white supremacist voices in a way unseen since the Civil Right Movement, the Republican party is not fascist.
What is true, however, is that there are left/anarchist demonstrations at every inauguration - Republican and Democratic alike. In fact, when it was assumed Hilary would win, there was talk of Bernie supporters holding protests from day one to 'push her toward a progressive agenda' or some shit like that.
Let's not forget the "Hope
Let's not forget the "Hope Bloc" of 2008. A number of more well known leftists and anarchists signed a statement calling for a non-disruptive demo in solidarity with people who had hope for Obama. Rat has a point.
True: a call-out like this
True: a call-out like this would not have gone out if Clinton had won the presidency. In that sense, the call-out is problematic. But I don 't see that as a reason to dismiss it. People are alarmed by the prospect of a Trump presidency, and rightly so. People want to express their outrage, alarm and anger, and rightly so. That people are inconsistent in opposing Trump and not, or hardly, opposing Clinton, is a problem not to be solved by dismissing the thing, but by addressing the inconsistency. The fault is not the people going on J20. The fault is the illusions in their heads while doing so. THAT has oe be addressed. That J20 is happening is a good thing. I would be there if I lived in the US, and I will be on the streets of Amsterdam in solidarity action. If that be 'leftism', let 's make the most of it :)
And no, the Republican party
And no, the Republican party as such is not 'fascist'. The alt right phenomenon, however, is. And the alt right phenomenon now has a foothold in the White House through this Steve Bannon character. I do not see the Trump presidency as a fascist regime as such. But neither is it just another Republican administration.
Does anyone know if any US
Does anyone know if any US unions have signed any similar #J20 general strike statement, or if there are any unions organizing disruptive actions in the US on that date?
I no problem with the
I no problem with the statement. Or even calls for demos.
Of course demos and statements don't organize movements, but
Anti-viet nam war and other demos were helpful
and for some younger folks an important experiance in a longer development
I don't see a problem with it
I don't see a problem with it either. The IFA is a mixed bag and the statement will do, considering. It's bizarre when people act all surprised because IFA doesn't suddenly dash out a 100% clear as crystal lengthy left communist analysis.

The short answer is no to distruptive actions. Local unions may participate
in some of the general rallies
My big question is what
My big question is what exactly is J20 and/or what cause do people want the "disruptions" to have? We talked about it in IWW spaces but it all sounds so vague..... I agree that maybe if demos are a direction folks locally want to go in that's cool but I'm not so sure that one-off demos are where/ how we're building power....
