Questionnaire / Regular folks revolution and the inability to fight back

Submitted by Thunaraz on December 2, 2017

Answer selectively if you'd like.

What do you think's going to happen when it finally comes time? I.E a huge military struggle, peaceful transition, variations and degrees of both, etc.

How is it that the larger part of the working class is going to view anarchism?

Will anarchism have to have become a popular idea before the revolution is even close? Do you think its realistic to expect most people to have become anarchists and/or communists before the revolution can happen?

Are there any popular ideas that the left has about the eventual revolution that you think are BS?

What's it going to take for it to happen?

What do you think the role of the most popular and current leftist orgs will be in growing left popularity and true progress toward revolution and/or overthrowing the current system?

If there is a military struggle between militias of leftists and the U.S.A (lol) what do you think it would take for us to win? Is it possible?

Would the rest of the world allow the USA to become a confederation of leftist territories without a fight?

Sometimes I wonder if the working class of the USA will ever truly move towards a popular anarchist front, if we the working and middle class would ever even want it, or if its even possible at all. Its pretty easy to become discouraged. If so, I wonder would libertarian communism even be among the popular idea? Our ideas would have to be so undoubtedly pervasive in order to accomplish anything on that scale, the scale where the fate of millions and billions is on the line. Maybe the tankies will come out on top and we'll just be another state like China.

Regardless of anything, the revolution is in the hands of the regular folks, the hands of the all those people we see every day who aren't (yet) anarchists or communists or anything. Its in the hands of all those that currently doubt us, so thoroughly convinced as they are of their freedom. Hell, anarchists are conceding to joining an org like the DSA for their numbers and resources and they're a pretty small organization all things considered. Shit like that will always happen, I guess. Sometimes I feel so stricken by my inability to fight back. OUR inability to fight back.

In the usa? not in my lifetime im sure.

How is it that the larger part of the working class is going to view anarchism?
not positively im sure. we arent the most...liked group in society, and never have been

Will anarchism have to have become a popular idea before the revolution is even close?
Most likely but its not necessary. Vast majority of russians during the october revolution didnt seem to support it. Small people can do great things

Do you think its realistic to expect most people to have become anarchists and/or communists before the revolution can happen?
No, some people are just desperate for change and will do anything to get it

Are there any popular ideas that the left has about the eventual revolution that you think are BS?
100% unity between marxists and anarchists. They want their transitional state, we dont. We can have temporary unity but it wont last long

What's it going to take for it to happen?
Education, struggle, and solidarity

What do you think the role of the most popular and current leftist orgs will be in growing left popularity and true progress toward revolution and/or overthrowing the current system?
DSA is at an all time popularity, but they are reformist. They are useful in dissolving the red scare tho, and getting people to be more accepting of further leftist systems. DSA's Libertarian Socialist and Communist branches are doing that ok I suppose

If there is a military struggle between militias of leftists and the U.S.A (lol) what do you think it would take for us to win? Is it possible?
Unification and decent numbers

Would the rest of the world allow the USA to become a confederation of leftist territories without a fight?
Nope. Most countries depend on the USA to get shit done. China, Russia, England, Ireland, Japan, South Korea. People are gonna be pissed and there'll be retaliation
