Mariana Mazzucato is an economist popular and influential within both the UK Corbyn Labour Party and the so-called progressive wing of the USA Democrats (plus Nicola Sturgeons Scottish nationalists) who tend to favour some limited shift in the balance between private and state enterprise particularly in the sphere of public services but she and they are not so radical and tend to be confused and confuse others with their limited understanding of Marx's categories in his analysis of the functioning of the capitalist economy.

I was wanting to read her
I was wanting to read her Entrepreneurial State a while back (has anyone read this and would recommend it?). It counters I believe the idea that people like Steve Jobs and Elon Musk were/are 'great innovators' or 'garage tinkerers' who came up with their products/ideas all by themselves (see this image showing US State's/public sector's role in development of iPhone components e.g.). It was a shame how unnoticed Dennis Ritchie's passing, who created the language C (an immeasurable contribution to computer science/programming), was compared to Jobs', who passed away around the same time.
Apologies for 2 minor typos
Apologies for 2 minor typos in the above links. The second is of course wordpress as for the first and the third should be worldsocialism.org. Hopefully admin will correct them shortly, (edit. Done thanks.)
