A question about a Maxim Gorky story

Submitted by Reddebrek on February 2, 2025

Hello there, I'm in the process of translating this Rudolf Rocker text https://libcom.org/article/la-malbeno-de-la-praktikismo-rudolfo-rokero
I'm finding it difficult to translate the beginning. Rocker is using a story by Maxim Gorky as his reference for the introduction, and I think I need to read that to make sure my translations of his remarks are accurate.

According to Rocker, the title of the story is "Pri la praktika pego kaj la mensoga verda fringo" The hardworking Woodpecker and the lying Green Finch is how I translate that title. I'm not familiar with that story, and I cannot find any variation of the title in Gorky's bibliography.
Does anyone have any ideas which story this could be or where to find it?

Seems there’s a story of his called the siskin who lied and the woodpecker who told the truth - would that be it?

Thank you, I believe that is it, I haven't succeeded in finding a translated version, but I did find an essay on Gorky that covers it and the comments indicate it is the same story and that my first draft translation are accurate on its contents.
