Site updates?

Submitted by adri on January 14, 2026

Is libcom going to be getting any new updates soon, admins? Any news to share? Would also be interested to know if there are going to be any site reports like there used to be (e.g. showing how many people have visited the site etc.). I doubt comments have increased, but I suspect a lot of people are still using libcom for research and various sources. Thanks

That would definitely be nice. I would also consider merging the Comments and Discussion tabs to make navigating easier

Hey, thanks for the questions! The main thing we are working on at the moment is bringing a What You See Is What You Get text editor to make it easier to post content and comments.
This is quite a complicated bit of work, basically because for years we have used a slightly weird way of using footnotes. So we need to do this in a way which won't break the rest of the site, which is taking quite a long time.
We did stop doing the annual stats, because there was less of an active community on the site that we thought would be interested in such a thing. But we can have a quick look. Definitely comments are way down, but traffic is still as high as it ever was, last time I checked at least, mostly through search engine referrals looking at texts. TBH last time I checked was a little while ago, so maybe this might have changed, if search engine AI summaries are taking away traffic to the site. So will check and report back.
Dark mode would be a great idea. We will look into if we could do that. I kind of think it would be quite a big exercise… But for sure we can look into it.
Merging comments and discussions… Basically the reason we didn't do that is because many people urged us to keep the forums in some format. Discussions is the old forums. And they are a different content type from articles, so it does seem to make sense to keep away a browsing just them for people who want to. But open to suggestions on this
